Zorba was Hal Prince/Kander and Ebb’s follow up to Cabaret. I don’t know much about it, but is seems like it was Fiddler with Greek people and some extra “conceptual” stuff.
The show was revived by Fran and Barry Weisman in the 80s with stars of the original movie. And Debbie Shaprio Gravitte before she was a Tony winner (or a Gravitte).
*The track normally starts with over a minute of a musical argument (that is interrupted by DSG as “The Leader” who then launches into this song). I cut that part of the track out for this posting since I don’t really have the attention span to sit through it when I want that great opening vamp and some DSG!
I really love Zorba and need someone to revive it so Chita Riveria can play Madame Hortense.
A revival (with Antonio Banderas as Zorba) has been “in the works” for a few years, I believe for the Roundabout.

My Tivo would have been like “Hey, faggot, you watched the Tony Awards last night. You’ve got the Phantom 25 special saved for like a gazilion years without ever having watched it. Imma gonna record Bunheads for you because I know you want to see Sutton Foster go head to head with Emily GIlmore.”
Unfortunately, I only have my regular old Comcast DVR who chose to ignore the entire situation.

My Wedding Toast
Yesterday, one of my oldest best friends, Benjamin, got married to one of my newer best friends, Stephanie, and it was awesome. I had the privilege of being the groom’s best man, so I was asked to toast the couple during the reception. Behind the cut, my toast, which is probably only interesting to people who know the couple.
However, since Benjamin and I initially met through blogging, it seems only right that I preserve my words here.
Internet Fandoms can be exhausting.
Although really the word I think I mean is “tiresome.”
Sometimes I just want to shake people and say “it’s okay to like more than one thing!” and “Just because something else succeeded against the thing you love, that doesn’t diminish the thing you love, so you don’t need to feel so threatened” and also “shut the fuck up please.”
