“Interesting Questions,” a song cut from Into the Woods. For all you out there wondering why the narrator doesn’t get to sing… it wasn’t always that way. (This song occurred at the moment when the rest of the cast turns on him and throws him to the giant.)

According to Wikipedia, rampion is the flower that features in the Rapunzel story. I see what you did there, Steve.

25 years since Into the Woods premiered and I’m still not sure what rampion is.

The previously-posted version on Fuck Yeah Stephen Sondheim is now a dead link, so why not refresh it this way?

Since there has been a lot of chatter for this - a clip of Last Midnight (Into the Woods) from August 29th in which The Witch literally lost the beans.

….

HOOOOLY FUCK… I will oral sex anyone who has a recording of the show on this night. “Children Will Listen” must’ve been super awk.

Okay friends, who wants to help my buddy Serg out?

Bernadette Peters as the witch in Into The Woods. My favorite musical. <3

I think the witch should look like an old hag woman as Bernadette somehow looks in this picture not like she’s half tree as Donna is made to be in the Shakespeare in the Park production currently running at the Delacorte theatre

That’s the way the Director/Designers envisioned it. As each midnight passes, she is made to look more and more like a tree. By the third midnight, her entire face is covered. She would continue to become a tree if the curse hadn’t been lifted.
For the record, I totally love that tree idea, because it ties in with her garden.

Donna’s makeup/costume changed throughout the first act? Totally missed that.

The official invitation!

Fuck Yeah Stephen Sondheim presents our first-ever Tumblr meetup at the Public Theater’s production of Into The Woods at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park!

Sunday, July 29th.

Meet in line at 6:00 am. (God help us all.) Tickets are free, we just have to wait until 1pm when they are distributed. Each person can get two tickets, so if you can join us for the show but not all the line waiting, buddy up! (More info here.)

We’ll wait for tickets together. Bring food to eat, songs to sing, and smartphones for posting the whole thing to Tumblr. Then we’ll reconvene at night for the show, which begins at 8:00 pm.

RSVP on FACEBOOK!

ONE WEEK!

In case you haven’t been paying attention on Facebook, here’s the plan:

We’re going to gather at Central Park West and 81st accross the street from the line at 5:45 and join the line at a few minutes after 6 to make sure we’re assembled before joining the line proper. My understanding is that it’s hard to join a group after they’re in line, so if you get there after six, you might have to have your own line buddies. :)

See y’all in just a few hours!

If you’re coming and nervous about finding us, I’ll be wearing a black t-shirt that says “NO ONE IS ALONE” in white type on the front, which might be obscured by a black West Side Story hoodie.

Also, I am bringing munchkins to share with everyone. They only had chocolate and jelly left at the Dunkin Donuts, but I don’t see that as being a problem.

So excited for this. Please reblog the bejeezus out of this post. And come! And even if you can’t come for the whole shebang, stop by the park and say hi!

When I was little, my parents took me to see a lot of live theater. At first, our excursions were primarily to community theaters and semi-professional productions. When I was eight years old, they took me to my first “first-class” production, the first national tour of Big River. I was already familiar with the show from our cassette of the original cast recording, but I was so swept away by the magic of theater that I was hooked for life. Before long, that cassette was supplemented by a paperback copy of the script and the piano/vocal selections of the score. I loved the show so much, I wanted to own a piece of it, and this was how I did it.
