The Wanting of You / Kate Baldwin
I think I stumbled on this EP just after I saw Finian’s Rainbow and had to know more about Kate Baldwin. One of my best impulse purchases ever. Music is by Georgia Stitt, lyrics by Marcy Heisler.
This is the song from which my URL hails. Sheldon Harnick’s “The Ballad of the Shape of Things”, taken from Kate Baldwin’s album She Loves Him.
It’s kind of a black-comedy song so be warned that it mentions, er, violent death. Not in graphic terms but it is there.
Fuck yeah Sheldon Harnick! :)

I fell in love with Kate Baldwin through her first album, feelings which were confirmed by seeing her in Finian’s Rainbow on Broadway. Thrilled she has a follow-up so soon. And what a treat not only to hear Sheldon Harnick sing on this track, but to get some non-show lyrics to the song as well.
