What if I ran a Fuck Yeah Stephen Sondheim “Best Sondheim Slashfic” contest this summer? Worst idea or Best worst idea?
Judy Kuhn sings “I Wish I Could Forget You” with Ryan Silverman in the Classic Stage Company production of Passion.
Are these new orchestrations? The prominent piano is awesome.
Yes - it’s a smaller orchestra than the original. All new charts by Jonathan Tunick (presumably based on his originals).

Just referred to “my rebbe, Stephen Sondheim,” in the graduate school class in Jewish experiential education I’m teaching.
Sorry for the radio silence this week, but I’ve been busy getting my condo ready for sale and finding a new place to live in Brooklyn. (Done and done. Coming to Park Slope on 2/1.)
Here’s the story with seeing Passion on Valentine’s Day:
Tickets are $75 each (unless you want premium seats). They can do a group rate if we think we can get enough people to commit. I’m not so sure that’s doable. BUT the website lets you choose your seats so it should be easy to group together if we agree to do that.
If you are committing to attending Passion on Thursday, February 14th, please send me an ask ASAP that says so, including your email address, and I will be in touch tomorrow with details about how to proceed.
If you can’t attend the show but still want to celebrate the triple birthdays of myself, Jesse, and Tyler, let me know that too and we can figure out a pre- or post-show celebratory option. I’ll bring cupcakes.
You may know that David Shire was called up to Boston during the out of town tryout of Company to write a last-minute replacement dance piece, now known as “Tick-Tock.” You might not yet have heard the original piece by Wally Harper it replaced. Here it is.
I am proud that two years in I am still posting things that are relatively rare and not otherwise showing up on Tumblr.
According to Wikipedia, rampion is the flower that features in the Rapunzel story. I see what you did there, Steve.
